Hotıì ts’eeda Lunchtime Learning: Text Me Healthy

Action Group Board Member, Rosanna Strong, provided a presentation on the Text Me Healthy program for Hotiì ts’eeda Lunchtime Learning. Text Me Healthy is a new program from the NWT Breast Health/Breast Cancer Action Group in partnership with the University of Sydney (Australia) and supported by Hotiì t’eeda which offers free text messaging support for NWT women over the age of 18 who have completed treatment for breast, lung, ovarian, cervical and colorectal cancer in the past 10 years. The program is designed to offer support and guidance for individuals post-cancer treatment, an area of cancer health care where survivors are often left feeling on their own. Supportive, reliable information and advice was sent by text message in topic areas such as mental health, physical activity, healthy eating and general wellbeing. In this presentation, the Text Me Healthy team lead Rosanna Strong presents the project, research methods and early results.
